Profile

Hello and welcome to my homepage.

My name is Lorenzo Amati, from Italy. I was born in 1978 and soon developed a sort of addiction toward arts.

My mother was a painter, so I started making my first carboncino portraits when I was still a child. Following my father steps I had a technical background and graduated mechanical engeneer.

My very first experience with Japanese metalwork was back in 2006, when I was briefly taught rokusho someage by my first teacher.

I have trained goldsmithing techniques at the Scuola Orafa Ambrosiana in Milan and Japanese traditional metalworking techniques for few weeks under the kind guidance of one of the best living artist on this field, Mr.Ford Hallam.

I am currently studying old example and trying to recreate few of these; my main interest are Higo schools and Ji Sukashi Tsuba.
